“I damn near died.” That’s how Atlanta rapper Lil Scrappy described a harrowing night earlier this week when he was hospitalized in Atlanta after suffering a severe asthma attack, according to TMZ.

“If it weren’t for my driver, mom, and rap artist I would have been dead,” the rapper continues. “I felt like I was dying.”

THe 28-year-old rapper, who has worked with the likes of Lil Jon, 50 Cent and Lil Wayne among many more, woke up Tuesday morning after a night of hard drinking and could barely breathe and couldn’t talk.

He was rushed to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta where he was treated and released. He received a “breathing machine” and says, “I will never leave anywhere without it again.”

Lil Scrappy was discovered by Lil Jon and signed to his BME Recordings. He released his first solo album, Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live, in 2006 and a second album is set to be released this year. Since 2006, he also has released two independent albums, Prince of the South and Prince of the South 2.
